ahaaa ...
btw: i updated the documentation website a few weeks ago. that was
overdue for quite some months - my apologies! i planned to update the
main site as well, was just waiting for a time slot and for reactions
on the docs-site.
i heard - a little accidently - from paul on the semantic web
conference 2 months ago that he had asked his brother to work on a new
design. now i hear in a side note that it will be implemented soon.
without even introducing it for discussion on the list. fine. the logo
he made is good and i'm sure the site design will be good as well.
i know it's hard to argue about designs, i know it's sometimes hard to
argue with me about my designs. i know that it has flaws. and i know
that it's very well possible that everybody else has already mentioned
to everybody else that they don't really like the site but just don't
want to piss me off because i did it when nobody else had the time to
do so. but that the site needs a better design. and that no one thinks
that i can do it good enough. all that is okay. i would just have
loved to be told so a little more openly.
still a great software, great work of everybody contributing to it.
i'm very thankful for all that, really! and i certainly don't envy you
for the challenge to manage a community process, paul ;-)
ciao
thomas
ps: and i'm sending this reply to dev because it's a little more
private ... or at least because i haven't slept over it.
